Which One(s) Do I Use
Explain This to Your Readers
RSS means “Really Simple Syndication”. It is a simpler way to keep up-to-date on all your favorite bookmarks. If you have many favorite websites or blogs (a blog is a website that is continuously being updated with articles), RSS puts all the sites in one location. You can even read the newest articles through this one source called a reader.
Subscribing to a Reader
For example, let us say you use the RSS reader of google (igoogle). Using the RSS google reader (after you subscribe), you can see all your favorite sites:
(click on the picture to see a larger scale of the picture)
From here you can read one of the newest articles, by clicking on the blue plus sign:
Now you have the whole article from start to finish right there (or you can choose to read it from the website itself, by clicking on the title of the article), without waiting for the website to load, with no ads or pop-ups, all your bookmarks in one spot, where you can read all of them, and you can login into the reader from any computer:

Subscribing Through Email
Sometimes you may forget to login to your reader and get behind on the recent articles. Alternatively, you can subscribe through email. Every-time a new article is posted, it is emailed to you. You can read the entire article from the email itself (or click on the link provided in the email, to goto the article itself). Your email address is safe from spam and will never be shared. If you decide to, you can unsubscribe at anytime with one click from a link at the bottom of every email.

Bookmark Live RSS Feed
There is a downside to the reader or email method though, if the article happens to have graphics or videos inside the article itself, it will not be visible. Therefore, the other method would be RSS live bookmarking. This way you can see if the site has new articles (without going to the site) through one click:
You can also subscribe to any website (using any method with one click), by clicking on the RSS symbol (circled in red):
If your browser does not support RSS live bookmarking, then you will be redirected to a page that looks similar to this:

There are many different shapes, sizes and colors to RSS symbols. Yet, all RSS symbols will have the same basic design:
There are many different label/names for RSS, the most common are XML, ATOM, and RDF. Here are some other images you might see:
